Plainspoken

Read articles. Listen to them, too.

Plainspoken reads articles and text aloud on your iPhone. Save an article for later, follow along with the words on screen, or listen while you walk or cook.

We’re preparing Plainspoken’s first release. The features and pricing below describe the planned launch; there is no public download yet.

Reading and listening in one app

Add a web link, paste text, or import a text file. Adjust the text size and playback speed, keep notes, and pick up where you left off. You can browse back through the page while the voice keeps going.

Webpage saving depends on the source. Some pages restrict access or cannot be saved in full.

Listen offline

Speech is generated on your iPhone. Saved text can be read and heard without an internet connection. Saving webpages and loading online images need a connection.

No ads and no Plainspoken account to create. The privacy notice explains local storage, website requests, backups and purchases.

Accessibility and reading comfort

Read at your own pace, listen, or follow along as each word is spoken. Adjust the text size, line width and listening speed, and choose a light or dark appearance.

These reading controls have been demonstrated in development builds. Support for iPhone accessibility features, including VoiceOver and Voice Control, is being evaluated for the first release. Confirmed support details will be added here as testing is completed.

For an accessibility question or feedback, contact Plainspoken support. A description of what you need to do is enough; you do not need to share medical information.

Try it, then buy once

The planned launch includes a free 21-day trial, starting when you activate it in the app. It won’t renew or charge you automatically. A one-time purchase of $19.99 in the United States will include permanent access and Family Sharing.

After the trial, a purchase is required to keep reading and listening. Your saved library and notes will remain available to manage and export.

Community price

We offer a community price for times when the regular price would stretch your budget. If that would help you, please use it—no application or explanation is needed.

The planned community price is $9.99 (USD), paid once through the U.S. App Store. It includes the same permanent access and Family Sharing as the regular $19.99 purchase.

If the regular price fits comfortably, choosing it helps support Plainspoken’s continued development.

Planned code: ALWAYSWELCOME.

Redemption is not available yet. The link will be added here after Plainspoken launches and the offer is active.

Coming to iPhone

The first release is planned for the United States, with English speech on iPhone running iOS 26 or later. We’ll add the App Store link here when Plainspoken is available.
